Since 1898 the Fasig-Tipton Company has been the premier auction house for thoroughbred horses in North America.

Fasig-Tipton began selling horses during the Saratoga Race meet in 1917. Some of the greatest horses of all time were purchased through Fasig-Tipton’s Saratoga sales. Among those sold here were Man O’War, Raise a Native, Danzig, Conquistador Cielo, Black Tie Affair, Colonial Affair, and NY bred Funny Cide.

Humphrey Finney (for whom the Saratoga sales pavilion is named) wrote about an auction company’s need to know about the horses and the value of what they are selling. This commitment to horsemanship and customer service remains a focal point of Fasig-Tipton today.

In 2008 Synergy Investments LTD., a Dubai based company, purchased Fasig-Tipton and have invested time and money into the continued development of sales, North American racing and breeding, including a multi-million dollar renovation project.

The horse sales in Saratoga take place each year in early August. The public is welcome to view the proceedings and get up close and personal with the future stars of racing.
